EOSINOPHILIC LUNG DISEASE

A. Idiopathic

  1. Transient pulm eosinophilia (Loeffler's)
  2. Prolonged pulm eosinophilia (Carrington's)

B. Specific etiology

  1. Drug induced: nitrofurantoin
  2. Parasite: strongyloides, pulm. larva nigrans, tropical pulm. eosinophilia, histosomiases
  3. Fungus: hypersensitivity bronchopulm. aspergillosis, bronchocentric granulomatosis

C. Vasculitis/ granulomatosis

  1. Wegener's granulomatosis
  2. Allergic granulomatosis
  3. Polyarteritis nodosa
  4. Necrotizing alveolitis
  5. Necrotizing "sarcoidal" angiitis & granulomatosis
