Anti-anxiety Medications:

Benzodiazepines Class:
Xanax/Alprazolam 0.25-0.5-1 mg tid  T1/2 = 6-27 hrs
Librium/Chlordiazepoxide 5-10-25 tab qid PO, IM or IV  T1/2 = 24-48 hrs
Valium/Diazepam 2-5-10 mg qid  T1/2 = 20-80 hrs
Serax/Oxazepam 10-15-30 mg cap qid  T1/2 = 6-11 hrs
Ativan/Lorazepam 0.5-1-2-3 mg tid   T1/2 = 12 hrs
Klonopin/Clonazepam 0.5-1-2 mg tid   T1/2 = 18-50 hrs
Tranxene/Clorazepate  3.75-7.5-15 mg qid
Centrax/Prazepam 5-10-20 mg tab tid

Other Anti-anxiety Class:
Buspar/Buspirone 5-10-20 mg tid
Atarax/Vistaril/Hydroxyzine 10-25-50-100 mg qid prn
Meprobamate/Miltown/Equanil 200-400-600 mg qid

RopMazicon/Flumazenil 0.2 mg over 15 sec IV,
may repeat q 1 min x4 (max 1 mg)
Versed/Midazolam:  IV 1 mg slowly over 2-3 min IV, up to 5 mg.  (IM dose: 0.07-0.08 mg/kg IM, 5 mg in average adult)
Propofol (Diprivan):
1 mg/kg IV over 20-30 seconds for deep sedation; 2-2.5 mg/kg IV for intubation adjuct.

 - For anesthesia (<55 yo): 40 mg IV q 10 seconds until induction onset (typical: 2-2.5 mg/kg) . Lower doses in elderly.
 - For ICU ventilator sedation: infusion 5-50 mcg/kg/min.

Pristiq/Desvenlafaxine
(approvable letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Pristiq™ (desvenlafaxine succinate), a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) studied as a treatment for adult patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). The letter was received January 22, 2007.  The regulatory approval of its new drug, Pristiq, a nonhormonal treatment for hot flashes and other menopause symptoms, is delayed until at least July 2007 )
